Changes to Smoke alarms legislation in homes in Scotland from 1st February 2022

The Scottish Government introduced new legislation following the disastrous Grenfell fire disaster. It states that all home owners in Scotland must now install Smoke and heat alarms in their properties to meet the following Criteria:-

A heat detector must be installed in your kitchen. Smoke detectors must be installed in the main living area of the home and in any hallway or circulation areas.

The easiest and least expensive method is to have them wireless and interlinked. This means that if one sensor should activate it will send a signal to the other detectors in the home so they all sound simultaneously.
